I unfortunately suffer from the GM's Curse, so I don't have that many GMs to thank. But I'd like to give credit where it's due.
Thanks to Random, who ran the awesomest Call of Cthulhu game. "The trees, the trees..."
Thanks to John, who nurtured one my my favourite characters, Morgan Blackhand, in a Rolemaster game.
Thanks to
curufea. It's a shame that the "Newton's First Law" game didn't run very long - Athrak was one of my favourite characters ever.
I talk about Morgan Blackhand and Athrak on the "Tell Me About Your Character" section of The Escapist website.
I'd also like to thank some of my players who performed awesomely in some of my games.
Victor and
politas in particular, for some classic interparty interaction and superb character roleplaying in my first Metascape game. The other players, including
yasutani,
meljayles, John, Pam and Bree also contributed to what I consider to be one of my finest games.
vonne, for letting me get her character possessed by a devil in my Web of Destiny D&D game. That was some more superb roleplaying.
yasutani,
kriian, AB, James and
politas (for playing the dragon) also deserve mention.
Jeremy game me a lot of enjoyment in my old Amber game many years ago. Especially his poems.
Robert and Gareth, wherever they may be, who along with
politas introduced me to "real" roleplaying in the library of Ginninderra High School all those years ago.
While I'm at it, I'd like to give a shoutout to
fossilapostle for creating The Escapist which has been fighting the good fight against roleplaying bigotry for ten years now. Thanks Bill!
Thanks, to all of you. And much thanks to Gary for starting it all.
There will be no gags about someone failing his saving throw from me.

For years I've owned a copy of Mike Oldfield Boxed, which is a set of four vinyl records - Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn (plus an extra disc of his earlier short pieces including Portsmouth (the one that was on the old ABC musical interlude spots) and In Duci Jubilo), mixed in quadrophonic. Note: not 5.1, not Surround - quad.
Now, intuition tells me that this is probably a collector's item. The availability of audio rigs capable of playing quad recordings is pretty low. AMD tells me that these days they sell for several thousand dollars on eBay - and that's not including the amplifier. I have an ambition to one day listen to these records on a quad rig. But it's possible that I can sell this set for quite a significant sum of money to a collector. It seems to me that its resale value would be both increased because of the relative rarity of rigs that could actually play it, and decreased because of the relative rarity of rigs that could actually play it.
I'm not asking for advice. I don't want to sell it, even though it's extremely unlikely that I'll ever be able to actually use it. But it intrigues me how much I might be able to sell it for. It's a pity that there's no "speculation" on Ebay. Kind of "If I were to put this item up for auction, how much would you bid for it?". The only way to find out is to actually list it, and commit to selling it.
It's a shame that I can't do this. Perhaps Antiques Roadshow might be able to help.

I'd just like to point out that the folks over at Code Monkey Publishing are really great. I have always had fantastic support from them. They really know how to take care of the customer.
