Just to let you know - athough I'm not posting much, I'm still reading my F-list.

I'm finding that most of the things I want to post consist of less than 140 characters.

Facebook

Eye-Lazerz of DOOOM!!!
For those who commented on my last post about doing more on Facebook than on LJ, I'd like to take a moment to explain.

I like Facebook. The main reason that I like Facebook is that I've blocked all of the crappy timewasting apps. I don't get the teddy bears, the pillow fights, or the drinks. I don't play YoVille, Farmville or Mafia. I don't get Vampires, and I don't SuperPoke.

As such, Facebook for me is pared down to what it is supposed to be - a way of connecting to other people. I get updates from people, from groups that I have joined, and from causes that I actually care about. I heartily recommend this method of using Facebook.

I understand that some don't like it. That's okay. I'm going to try and start using LiveJournal as much as I can again. I'm also starting up a "serious" blog, at Blogspot. I discovered tonight that I already have such a thing, that I set up way back in 2002 but never seriously used. So I'm going to try and make actual informative posts over there. My LJ will remain available for "lifestyle" posts.

I'm sorry. I haven't been checking LJ at all.

I've caught up on a very few close friends (those in my "family" list) but honestly, LJ really isn't all that important to me any more. I am on Facebook and Twitter, and anyone can keep up with me there. I'm actually thinking about starting up a "serious blog" where I actually make posts about things that matter to me, the way I used to here on LJ.

So anyway, if you haven't Friended me yet on Facebook, you really should. It gets a lot more traffic from me right now than anything else.

Best day ever

Well, this is the conclusion to a fantastic day.

After a very late night (for the best possible reason) and a languorous sleep-in, I went with a friend to see the Soft Art exhibition at the National Gallery. It was quite interesting, although at times it certainly was a little... pretentious. "Wanky" would also be an appropriate adjective. There were some really interesting pieces of work though.

Afterwards I hung out with [info]theloldog and his human. That was such a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Tomorrow, I make a very fun and useful purchase.

Hi LJ, how you going? Yeah, I'm okay. I'm a little sad right now, but I'm not going to tell you why. Sorry.

But it was nice going to meet[info]lilysea today. We saw the Vanity Fair exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. That was very interesting. And I think it may have mused me. I've got this idea to take portraits of prominent skeptics at TAM. That could be interesting, and fun. I'll have to explore the possibilities.

Oh, LJ... How I have missed thee

Yes, I've been neglecting my LJ again. I haven't really had all that much to say - well, not that much that I'd care to air in a public forum like LJ, anyway. I've still been reading my Flist though.

I'm still here. My brain hasn't exploded or anything... yet. Although I am still taking paracetamol and ibuprofen just to get through the day. It seems to be getting better. I had a CT scan, which was interesting. Actually, it was pretty boring. It didn't show anything. And that's a good thing. But hey, I've got pictures of my brain now! How cool is that?

Helped move [info]razorgirl_autoday, ably assisted by [info]yasutani and [info]iki_maska, plus various members of Brody's family. I have to say, [info]razorgirl_au has a lot of lovely carved wooden furniture. Very solid, very sturdy wooden furniture. But she's now moved in to her place in Florey. The lounge room is currently full of Stuff! but she and Brody were able to get organised enough tonight to sit in leather chairs with cold drinks and watch So You Think You Can Dance, so I think they'll be okay. There's a lot more Stuff! to bring over, so she's not too sure where she's going to put it all. This place is actually a little smaller than her Lyneham place, and those who have been there know how full of Stuff! that place was.

Oh, and apparently she'll have no internet for a few weeks, so if you need to contact her, you should do so by phone.

My awesome weekend

Well, I had one of the best weekends ever. It was the kind of weekend that made me feel like it was a long weekend, except that it wasn't.

I had a crappy week at work. A really crappy week. The only bright light in the week was Wednesday night Mah-Jongg at [info]razorgirl_au's place. Lots of fun, although she plays with some strange rules.

Friday night I went to [info]earthnative's Candle Cathedral to dispose of the old year in spectacular fashion.

Photos here.

Saturday afternoon was training, and despite the fact that the training ground was overrun with people and bicyles when I got there - some sort of event of some kind - they trickled away and Victor and I were able to do some single sword. I managed to ram my forearm down onto his sword point, leaving a nasty lump and making my fingers tingle for about an hour afterward. Otherwise it was fun. Saturday evening I dragged [info]miss_terri_girl to her first AAF party.

Badger (not his real name) had bought himself a purple suit, and lamented that he'd not be able to wear it. Nonsense, said the AAF, we'll have a Superhero Party! It turned out to be Villains from Marvel (Joker, Harley Quinn and Catwoman) and Heroes from DC (Rogue, Wolverine and Storm). There was also a few other random heroes and villains, and of course the obligatory Mad Scientist (guess who?)

Photos here.

Sunday, [info]tashira_ronin's brother and sister-in-law came over for lunch, with their two boys, who proceeded to make a very loud noise with out two boys. They're good people. Afterwards was watching The West Wing with [info]wolfkit, which is always most pleasant. I took photos of her collection of gloves (for purposes of insurance, etc). That was fun.

Tomorrow it's back to work and hoping that this week will be a whole lot better than last week.

Happy new year

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year season. Personally I spend a lot of it helping Victor move house, playing NWN2, and not much else.

I was planning on getting to [info]faeriefyre's yesterday, but with the heaving big barrels of shit around I decided that I needed a night at home. So I drank beer and read Asterix, and let of poppers and sparklers when the moment arrived.

Back to work for me tomorrow. Won't that be fun?

:(
